REMOVE FASTENERS
Carefully remove the fasteners between the front spar and the
intersection at rib 2

REMOVE FASTENERS
It will be necessary to remove fasteners from the vertical fitting between rib 3
fwd fitting and rib 2 to help remove the bottom rib boom and end fasteners.
NOTE: Airbus recommends that up to 50% of the lower fasteners in the
vertical fitting can be removed to help remove the end two fasteners in the
bottom boom. This will also assist in the refitting of these two fasteners.

REMOVE THE BOOM
RIB 3 - Bottom Boom Removal
Separate the boom from the carbon rib web.
Use non metallic tools to avoid damage to rib web.

INSTALL NEW BOOM
Process:
- Install New Boom (ref. Markings)
- Back Drill holes into new boom
Drill and ream the fastener holes for the new rib boom to install.
To help with the installation of the lower boom, some fasteners are
back drilled, some using a template and two forward drilled

INSTALL NEW BOOM
Process:
- Install New Boom (ref. Markings)
- Back Drill holes into new boom
- Front Drill the 2 last Holes into new boom,

- Install New Boom (ref. Markings)
- Back Drill holes into new boom
- Front Drill the 2 last Holes into new boom,
- Remove new boom,
- On bench: Using Old Boom, transfer drill all indicated holes into
a template.

- Remove new boom,
- On bench: Using Old Boom, transfer drill all indicated holes
into a template.
- On bench/ New Boom: Use the holes already drilled on the new boom as ref.
and install template
- Drill the last remaining holes into new boom
