3rd Grade Classroom Rules & Procedures

Mr. Hernandez has established five classroom rules for his 3rd grade class: respect others and the environment, listen and follow directions, keep hands to yourself, raise your hand to speak, and be prepared. The rules are intended to promote a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment. Rewards for following the rules include praise, notes home, leading activities, and private reading time. Consequences for breaking rules start with warnings and increase to calls home, office referrals, and parent-teacher conferences. Five classroom procedures are also outlined, with rationales given for each.

List of Classroom Procedures and Rationales

1. Student(s) will be escorted by a buddy when going to the Nurse's
Clinic, in order to get there safely and quickly.
2. Student(s) entering the classroom in the morning are prepared and ready
to work, so that our learning time does not move into activity time or play
time.
3. Student(s) will treat others with kindness and respect when working in a
group, so that group members are productive and have their work finished
on time.
4. Student(s) will not use an outside voice in the classroom, so that we
know we are not distracting others sitting at their desks doing their work.
5. Student(s) will write down daily homework in their Journals every
afternoon when I am assigning homework, so that you know what work to
turn in the next day.
