Alchemical Secrets of the Philosopher's Stone

This document discusses several key concepts in alchemy. It mentions that alchemists believed there was one spirit that worked in all things, appearing in different forms depending on the element. They also believed the greatest harmonies existed between the sun/gold and moon/silver, as well as wine and man. Alchemists sought to unite the terrestrial sun and moon to the human body through the spirit of wine. The document also notes that alchemy viewed life as creating matter, rather than science's view of matter creating life. It provides a brief description of the Philosopher's Stone as a heavy crystalline substance ranging from crimson to saffron in color that melts easily and dissolves in water or wine.

They searched out where the greatest harmonies in the world consisted and they found that it
consisted between the Sun and Gold, the Moon and Silver (Philosophically) Wine and Man; for
they considered, that the vitall heat of all things prooceeded from the beams of the sun; and the
radical moisture of things from the beams of the Moon but because there was no harmnoy

Sun and Moon to the body of Man by the help of Spirit of Wine; this put them into divers
disquisitions in which God revealed unto them many divine secrets in Nature.

Today, products from the Mineral realm are not considered to have seeds or even to come
from seeds, but in the works of alchemy, this is a great secret of the Art.
Michael Sendivogius, in his New Chemical Light says:
Nature is not visible, though she acts visibly; she is a volatile spirit who manifests herself
in material shapes, and her existence is in the Will of God.
Dry Way and the Wet Way. Some masters say there is no true Dry Way as the liquid state
is essential for the transference of Celestial and Vital forces in the matter.
The alchemical concept of life and matter lies at the opposite pole of that of the current
scientific community. Science is trying to find out how matter created life. Alchemy
states that life created matter.
The Philosopher's Stone
According to Hermetic tradition, the Philosopher's Stone is manifest as a heavy
crystalline substance which is described as being quite similar to pulverized glass,
ranging from crimson to saffron in color. It has no odor, is not combustible and yet melts
easily like wax by candle flame alone and readily dissolves into water or wine. The
materials to make it are abundant and to be had by anyone.
