PROJECT PROPOSAL
Guidance:
For your Project Proposal, you must provide an outline brief of your Final Major Project. Where the
brief is set by your tutor, or where you are working on a group brief (with other Learners), please
make sure that you cover how you will respond individually to the brief and/or your individual
responsibilities/ contribution to the work of the group.
Your Project Proposal must be produced as a focused outline brief:
Section 1:
i.
Working Title or Theme of Final Major Project
Asondar, it is a semi-realistic medieval open-world RPG.
ii.
What you will work towards producing
I aim to achieve a small town like area that will be available to work around in. There will
be a minimum of 3 or 4 buildings, 2 of which will have interactive interiors. This will be a
blacksmith and a normal house. I will develop a set of building blocks that will allow me to
easily put buildings together. I will also make a variety of models to use in the interiors. All
the textures I will hand paint, creating materials that I can use over and over, such as
wood and stone. If I have enough time I plan to make some animated meshes but the
majority will be static. If I can I plan to make a character model. A simple quest that tells
you to go to a certain area will be implemented to get you to explore.

Section 2:
i.
Ideas and research sources (you must include a short list of research sources and
bibliography texts). This list can be attached as an appendix.
I will use a mix of primary and secondary research to help with the design of my project.
For primary research I plan to visit a castle so that I can get a better sense of the
medieval architecture and learn more about the materials that are used. I will be using
many different secondary sources to find out more information on the genre and style I
have chosen. I will be using Skyrim and The Witcher series as inspiration and help with
the architecture. I will also research more about the medieval times so that it fits with my
game. I will also learn more about the fantasy genre from films and books so that my
game fits with the fantasy theme.

Section 3:
i.
Media form and technologies
I plan to design the majority of assets and the levels design by drawing them out. I will
also draw out the HUDs. I will model in 3Ds Max, then I may use Mudbox to sculpt more
detail into the high poly models to get normal maps. I will use Photoshop and a graphics
tablet to create the texture maps. I may also use some other programs to add more
texture detail, such as Substance Painter or DDO. Unreal Engine 4 will be the game
engine I will use.
ii.
Timescales (an action plan is essential)
All drawings of the assets and the scene will be done by the end of week 2. I will develop
the models and textures by the end of week 6. I will put the level together by the end of
the week 8. The blog I will develop as time goes on. In the final month I will set up the
menus and animations. I will plan all of this out on a Gantt chart.

Section 4:
i.
Proposed method of evaluation (how you will review your FMP in critical and analytical
ways self and peer review, tutorials, etc)
I will evaluate in a few ways. First I will self-assess and work very closely to the criteria,
making sure that I am doing everything that needs to be done. I will also create a survey
so that I can get peer feedback on what I need to improve and change throughout my
project. I will also use many tutorials to help develop my skills.
ii.
How the evidence produced relates to the assessment criteria.
I will be checking every piece of my FMP against the criteria so that I make sure I am
developing it correctly.
