The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) was constituted in 1942 and is registered
under the Registration of Societies Act, 1860.
The CSIR is a contemporary Research and Development organization having a pan-India presence
with a dynamic network of 38 national laboratories, 39 outreach centres, 3 Innovation Complexes
and 5 units.
CSIR is ranked at 84 position among 4851 institutions worldwide and is the only Indian
organization among the top 100 global institutions as per the Scimago Institutions Ranking World
Report 2014.
