Dear Parents:
Iti witha heavy heart and deep sadness that we confi that the staff and students of Bishop
Greschuk Schoo! have lost a member of our school family. his Lam in Grade 38 passed away on
Monday, December 29, 2016. For al of us, his aime of great sorow. We unite in our sorrow
and prayers fo: the Lam family, as we express our deepest sympathies.
COuritte Evi was deeply loved by al, especialy the cidren who knew him so well in Grade 38
‘and the staf who worked with him so closely. With this in mind, we share with you, the parents, the
folowing information when dealing wih your ovm children in his station,
‘You as paren can provide valuable assistance to your children during this me, Here are some
eas foc taking with children:
Be attentive to your children when helshe has questions and want to talk
Listen to your child's felngs and accept hem, even if they ae diferent from your
{Give honest, simple, bref answers to your chi's questons
‘Make sue that your child understands your answers andthe meaning tha you intend.
Use words or phrases that wont confuse your cid or make the world more frightening
For example, using the word “sleep” for death can cause achid io be afraid of going to
bed,
‘+ Create opportunites for your cidren to alk wth eachother about what happened and
how they ae feeling,
‘+ Be especialy loving and supportive; more than anyone ese, your child needs you a this
time.
‘© Above all listen to your children and let them know that her feoings are normal and
acceptable,
‘Amemexial service wil be planned a later date, We wil continue fo pay for al, that hey may
find peace a ths time in the healing presence of God,
