Important basics to know about your redesigned site
WHAT ARE THE GOALS OF THE NEW TEMPLATE?
There are several, and they all surround themes like more
local site flexibility and control, better promotional oppor-
tunity, improve features and functionality and more user-
generated involvement opportunities.
WHAT KIND OF FLEXIBILITY IS BUILT INTO THE NEW
TEMPLATE? Local sites are able to do the following on
their own once they launch on the new template:
• Management of all site navigation.
• Management of advertising placements and sizes.
• Management of all contact us page information.
• Management of section content, names and placement.
HOW DOES THE WEB CUBE STRATEGY FACTOR INTO
THE NEW TEMPLATE? The three pieces of the Web
Cube strategy (constant updates, multimedia and reader
involvement) are all key components of the new template.
1. There’s a section dedicated — above the scroll —
for updates throughout the day. ]
2. Multimedia content is featured prominently in the mid-
dle of the site and improvements have been made to the
photo gallery tool.

3. There are more areas to seek user generated content;
and polls have been added as a functionality tool in Zope. ]
IS THE SAME TEMPLATE BE USED FOR ALL
GATEHOUSE NEWSPAPERS? Yes. However, there are
three styles and color schemes each newspaper has to
pick from. Having all newspapers on the same template
allows for better support and new tools and template im-
provements can be rolled out faster.

HOW ARE ONLINE VERTICALS PROMOTED? Seven
different verticals are promoted through different icons
in the nameplate area at the top of the site. There is also
be a deal promotion in the right rail and a scroll of pro-
motions in the middle of the site.
WHAT IMPROVEMENTS WERE MADE PERTAINING
TO OUR AD PLACEMENTS? The new templates re-
flect significant advertising sponsorships, better posi-
tioning and more promotional opportunities.

• Two 300 by 250s or any combination of 300 by 100s ]

WHY WILL OUR RATE CARD CHANGE? Because wide
skies are no longer available on homepages and be-
cause additional sponsorships and other promotional
opportunities are now available, rate cards need to be
adjusted for each site. The corporate Online Revenue
team will work with each site on their rate card.
