Ans. SNR indication on block instrument.
Shunt key IN indication on block instrument.
SM key in normal position on block instrument.
Q6. When can Calling On signal be taken Off?
Ans. Calling On signal obeys even if
Home signal above Calling On failed.
Some of the tracks or all the tracks showing occupied (i.e. Red indication)
Overlap points(trailing end) are flashing or not showing steady indication.
All signals become blank and generator also failed, since this works on DC power supply taken
from battery bank.
Q7. What are to be checked before taking OFF any signal?
SMs key IN indication on SM panel.
N/R indications of the points in the concerned route including overlap(trailing end) points.
Crank Handle IN indication on SM panel.
All the siding, KL points keys, gate key if any
Signal ahead indication is available because if signal ahead is blank, then signal will not obey.
Q8. What wrong operation leads to block instrument failure?
Ans. During the following.
Normalizing of the home signal knob before complete clearance of track on LVT (Home signal
track).
Not reversing the Home signal knob while piloting the train.
Not putting back of home signal knob even after arrival of train.
Emergency TA bell switch is kept in correct position.
Q9. What to do if Home signal fails to assume Proceed Aspect?
Ans Take off the starter signal only after the train has passed the Home signal.
Q10. Can the Crank Handle be extracted if the concerned route is locked?
Ans
Yes. Ensure all the signal knobs are in normal position, free indication available in the EKT of the
crank handle box.
