Rubble Packing

Rubble packing involves laying stones under floors and foundations. The stones must be hard, angular, and at least 100mm thick. They cannot exceed three times their thickness in length or breadth. The subgrade is leveled and cleaned, then stones are laid with their broad sides down. Interstices are filled with stone chips or crushed stone dust, compacted, and flooded with water. Soft spots are filled with sand and compacted until proper consolidation is achieved. Measurement is by area in square meters or by volume in cubic meters if thickness is not specified.
