General Requirements www.barksandrecboarding.com 704-662-3477
Health: All guests must be spayed or neutered once they reach 6 months of age. All guests must be in good health, be flea and
worm free, and not have any condition that places any other dog or human at risk.
Age: All guests must be at least 4 months in age and must have received all required rounds of puppy shots.
Breed: Due to current insurance restrictions, any dog of a bully breed cannot be accepted for socialization. This includes bully
breed mixes. Bully breed dogs (according to our insurance carrier) include (but is not limited to) the American Staffordshire
Terrier, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, the American Pit Bull Terrier, and any other dog that has the substantial physical
characteristics and/or appearance of those breeds. Sorry - we don't take pit bulls or pit bull mixes no matter how
awesome they are.
Behavior: All guests must be non-aggressive and not excessively food or toy protective. Additionally, we reserve the right to turn
away dogs for excessive barking, or any other reason should we feel it is necessary for the comfort and/or safety of our other
guests or staff.
Vaccinations: All guests must be up to date on the following required vaccinations:
DHLPP (Distemper, Parvo)
Rabies
Bordetella (kennel cough) required every 6 months
Please note: There is NO such thing as a 6 month bordetella vaccine. We require the ANNUAL vaccine for bordetella every six months. Please keep in
mind that the "due date" on veterinary documentation is often the date after one year, not 6 months. For that reason it may not appear to be "due" on
your "reminders" form from your vet. (For safety information regarding the bordetella every six months, please contact your vet.)
Other Requirements:
Must have had a negative fecal (for internal parasites) within the previous 12 months.
Must be on an approved flea and parasite (including heartworm) program per vet recommendations.
Fleas: Please note - Dogs who present with signs of fleas will be treated with Capstar and charged $50 per dog. We also
reserve the right to refuse to take your dog if he/she presents with fleas. Please keep in mind that we do not knowingly accept
dogs that are not on a flea preventative medication.
**If there is a medical reason why your dog may not be taking flea or heartworm preventative medication, we will require an explanation from
your vet and certification from your vet that your dog is flea and/or heartworm free. Dogs with fleas may not be permitted to stay.
Food: All food must be in airtight containers or ziplock bags. We cannot accept large bags of dog food in their original
packaging. We do not accept any bag, box, cooler, etc. that is not airtight. It is prohibited by law. If you do not provide
food in acceptable (airtight) packaging, we will not be able to accept your food, and will charge you $3.50 per day to feed your
dog.
Charge for Food: There is a $3.50 additional charge per day for us to feed your dog if you do not bring food, or do not bring
enough food. Please be sure to bring enough food.
Chew Food: Please do NOT send rawhides, bones, or any other chewable item that may be a choking hazard. We will send
them back with you. We are happy to give your dog digestible treats that you provide.
Toys: You may send a soft toy or two to be kept in the crate with your dog. However, we will not allow any toy that may be a
choking hazard. This includes plastic chew toys, etc.
Pick-Up and Drop-off: There is no pick-up or drop-off outside of our normal office hours. We will not release your dog to
anyone who is not listed on the Pick-Up Approval Form.
Check-In: Checking in and checking out take time. Please plan to spend 5-10 minutes checking your dog in or out. If there are
people in front of you it may be longer. If you are in a hurry, we will make every effort to get you out as quickly as possible.

However, it is very important that we have all the information we need before you leave. Please be kind to our staff. They are
working as quickly as they can.
Application: All required forms must be completed and approved prior to your dogs first visit. All vaccination records must
be sent to us directly from the vet. We will not accept records that do not come directly from the vet.
Evaluation: There is a one day evaluation REQUIRED prior to an overnight stay. Your dog must be dropped off early in the
morning and picked up after 4 pm. Any dog that has not been evaluated and approved for socialization will not be permitted to
board overnight.
Reservations: Reservations are required. A credit card is also required at the time of reservation to hold your reservation, and
will be kept on file until your dog leaves. It will be charged according to our policies, including our cancellation policy. We
