THE TERM COMMUNITY IS DERIVED FROM TWO LATIN WORDS COM AND MUNIS WHICH MEANS
COMING TOGETHER AND SERVES RESPECTIVELY. HENCE COMMUNITY MEANS SERVING TOGETHER OR
WORKING TOGETHER. IT IS A GROUP OF PEOPLE LEADING A COMMON INTERDEPENDENT LIFE IN A
DEFINITE LOCALITY. COMMUNITY IS A UNIT OF SOCIETY. IT IS THE LARGEST INFORMAL SOCIAL
ORGANISATION. COMMUNITY IS DIFFERENT FROM SOCIETY. SOCIETY IS A NETWORK OF HIDDEN SOCIAL
RELATIONSHIPS AND HENCE IS AN ABSTRACT CONCEPT. ON THE OTHER HAND COMMUNITY IS
CONCRETE AND AN END IN ITSELF. COMMUNITY IS A GROUP OF PEOPLE LIVING TOGTHER IN A
LOCALITY AND SHARING COMMON TRADITIONS, FOLKWAYS AND CUSTOMS.
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY CAN BE
STRENGTHENED THROUGH CLOSE CO-OPERATION AND MUTUAL GIVE AND
TAKES BETWEEN THEM. IN A DEMOCRATIC SET UP SUCH RELATIONSHIP IS
NOTONLY ESSENTIAL BUT ALSO TEMPERATIVE. THE SCHOOL IS FOR THE
COMMUNITY AND THE COMMUNITY IS FOR THE SCHOOL. THE SCHOOL HAS TO
SHARE ITS RESOURCES FOR THE USE OF THE COMMUNITY AND THE
COMMUNITY IS TO MAKE ITS RESOURCES AVAILABLE TO THE SCHOOL. THUS
THERE SHOULD BE ATWO WAY TRAFFIC BETWEEN THE SCHOOL AND THE
COMMUNITY IN UTILIZING THEIR RESOURCES.
EDUCATIONAL FUNCTIONS OF THE COMMUNITY
COMMUNITY SOCIALIZES THE CHILD
COMMUNITY TEACHES ITS MEMBERS DESIRABLE BEHAVIOUR PATTERN AND VALUES.
COMMUNITY LAYS DOWN EDUCATIONAL STANDARDS OF THE PUPILS IN SCHOOL.
COMMUNITY PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL AND VOCATIONAL GUIDANCE.
COMMUNITY CO-ORDINATES THE EFFORTS OF VARIOUS EDUCATIONAL AGENCIES IN THE
AREA.
COMMUNITY TEACHES ITS MEMBERS DESIRABLE BEHAVIOUR PATTERN AND VALUES.
COMMUNITY ESTABLISHES DIFFERENT TYPES OF EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS SUITABLE TO

INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABSUSE (JUNE 26)
IN 26 TH DAY THE SCHOOL CONDUCTED A PROGRAMME ONTHE
AWARENESS AGAINST DRUG ADDICTION ABOUT A DISCUSSION ON
STUDENTS, TEACHERS AND PARENTS. IN THIS DISCUSSION THE STUDENS
ARE BOTHERD ABOUT THE FEEDBACK OF DRUG ADDITION. AFTER THE
DISCUSSION THEN CONDUCTED A MEDICAL CAMP IN THE SCHOOL. IN
THIS CAMP WAS FREE MEDICAL CHECKUP AND GIVE MEDICINES TO THE
PATIENTS. THE DOCTORS ARE GIVE AWARENESS OF THE PEOPLE TO THE
ABSUSE OF DRUG USING.
CONCLUSION
SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY IS A PART OF SOCIETY THEY CAN
RELATE TO EACH OTHER. A GOOD SCHOOL CAN CREATE A GOOD
SOCIETY.
