This de&artment &la's an im&ortant role. @n this de&artment= the vario(s
varieties of cotton are mixed= according to their length= strength= fineness and mat(rit'
to get the reN(ired co(nts of 'arn i.e. 60s= #0s etc. Js(all' fo(r b(c>ets of water and
one liter of soa& oil is s&ra'ed on the s&read cotton and >e&t for 2" ho(rs before the

significance of carding is the final res(lt of the s&inning o&eration.
C$rd#5 Pro.e--
The la&s that are &rod(ced in a sheet form are sent to the carding section. The
main aim of carding is to eliminate short fibers and also elimination of ne&s which are
formed in the blow room. The &rocess done here is that the cotton is com&letel' o&en
into individ(al fibers and the dirt' foreign matter and na&s are removed.
C$rded S%#!er
The sliver &rod(ced after normal carding in the form of long thread li>e fibers
called as carded sliver. These carded slivers are sent to drawings the next stage.

The combined sliverLs aim is to f(rther remove short fibers and na&s that are

combing &rocess short fires are removed and fibers are arranged in &arallel formation.
This combed sliver is the best N(alit' of sliver than the carded.
