Happy New Year!
I hope you and your daughters and sons
had a great beginning to the school year. I
received many reports of happy students
and parents at Meet and Greet and the first
two days of school. Those of you that have
been with us in the past know how much I
LOVE the beginning of the school year. The
bright white shoes, the crisp new uniforms,
our fourth and fifth graders decorating their
lockers like they are their first apartments,
and all those smiling faces coming in that
front door. I was so disappointed to have
to miss it. I am back now and stronger than
ever and happy to be here with all of your
children.
The faculty and I look forward to a great
school year. We are excited about the new
school year and happy to have all of you as
partners in your childs education.
Together we have embraced a common
vision of rigor, relevance and relations for
all of our students. We want each and every
one of our students to know we care about
them and we want them to be successful
learners in and outside of school.
We will continue to review and keep our
math and science curriculum strong but this
year we will in particular Literacy. Literacy is
the most important word in the WORLD.
This school year we are going to study our
Literature and Writing programs to ensure
our students are reading a wide variety of
Genres and that at the same time we are
working on the skills of reading we are also
promoting the LOVE of reading and
providing that opportunity too. As we
evaluate our writing we want to make sure
we our comprehensibly exposing our
students to the many styles of writing they
need to be successful in every next step of
LIVE JESUS
their journey.
These are very exciting curriculum goals and
we are looking forward to focus on working
on them with our students beginning with
our toddlers through our fifth grade girls.
Literacy touches all ages and all content
areas. So I ask you to also make it a goal in
your home. Don't forget to make time for
that bedtime story, make it part of your
bedtime routine it is a very important part
of your child's literacy journey. Thank you!
Parking Lot/Dismissal
Thank you for your cooperation this past
week on our parking lot with drop off and
pick up of your children. You have really
helped us to ensure your children's safety.
It has been very helpful with the Lower
School following Mrs. Henry's request to
delay your arrival for pick up. You actually
get through much quicker and do not have
to contend
with the traffic
and sit in
those lines not
moving.
PLEASE DELAY YOUR ARRIVAL for PICK UP to
3:25pm. 186 Juniors/Seniors need to exit
and all 6th through 10th grade parents
need to get onto the lot to pick up their
daughters and then exit BEFORE Lower
School parents enter the parking lot.
Your delayed arrival will help ensure a safe
and efficient dismissal. Thank you for your
patience and cooperation. Procedure in
place until further notice
Middle School and Upper School students
who carpool with a Lower School student
and who are being picked up must:
o Meet the Lower School student at
Door #7
o Be picked up at Door #7 along with
the Lower School student.
When we LIVE JESUS in our hearts, we LIVE
JESUS in our lives and on the parking lot.
Thank You very [Link] appreciate your
cooperation.
Simplicity
St. Francis de Sales saw a sure yet simple
path toward holiness, through the little
virtues of patience, humility, gentleness,
simplicity, honesty, and hospitality lived out
in your ordinary, daily life of Be who you
are and be that well. This school year as
we join the other Visitation Schools in our
Salesian Network to focus on the Direction
of Intention, we have chosen the virtue of
simplicity to be our focus.
Simplicity is nothing other than an act of pure
and simple charity that has only one goal, to
acquire the love of God."
~Saint Francis de Sales
Happy Birthday
As a special way to celebrate birthdays at
school, students
will have the gift of
an out-of-uniform
day. Students with
summer birthdays
LIVE JESUS
may celebrate on their half-birthdays, and
those with birthdays on a holiday may
choose a day before or after that holiday.
As always, students must follow the out-of-
uniform guidelines that are listed in the
Lower School Handbook they also should
be sure and wear their tennis shoes for P.E.
class.
Happy Birthday from Mrs. Karl!
Nut-Aware Environment
Visitation Academy maintains a nut-aware
environment. Like many schools, we have
had a noticeable increase in the number of
students who are allergic to nuts of many
varieties. In order to maintain a safe
environment for all our students, we
request all snacks be nut free. We also
request that any after - school events
remain nut-free as well. Allergies to nuts
can be life threatening and may cause
anaphylactic shock. We appreciate your
cooperation in this matter.
