Endangered Species: Aberdare Mole Shrew

This document lists over 30 endangered species found in Africa, including the African elephant, whose population declined from 1.3 million to 600,000 before 1990, and over 3,000 were slaughtered from 2006-2009. The African golden cat and African white bellied pangolin are also endangered due to habitat loss of over 44% and 60% of their former ranges, respectively. When threatened, the pangolin will roll into a ball to protect its young. Many other species such as chimpanzees, hippopotamuses, leopards, and rhinoceros are endangered as well.
