The Supplication of the Lame Man.
This supplication is also called the supplication of the young man punished for his sins. Being recorded in the books
of al-Kaf`am and the book of Muhaj al-Da`awt, this supplication has been taught by Imam `Al Amr al-Mu'minn (`a)
to a young man who was paralyzed due to the wrongdoings and sins that he had committed against his father. After he
said this supplication, the young lame man slept and saw in dream that the Holy Prophet () came to him and passed his
hand over his body saying, Hold on to the Greatest Name (alism al-a`am) of Almighty Allah and your deeds will be
good. When he woke up, he found himself healed from lameness.
The supplication is the following:

In the Name of Allah, the All-
beneficent, the All-merciful.

O Allah, verily I beseech You by Your
Name:

wa l kayfa huwa
nor how He is,
wa l ayna huwa
nor where He is,
wa l aythu huwa ill huwa
nor in what respect He is, but He!

O Possessor of dominion and
kingdom!

O Possessor of might and
invincibility!

O King! O All-holy! O Giver of peace!

with Him is no aide
wa l ittakhadha ma`ah

nor has He taken any adviser,
wa l itja il ahrin
nor needs He any assistant,
wa l kna ma`ah min ilhin
ghayruh
nor with Him is any god but He
l ilha ill anta
there is no god but You.

So exalted are You above what the
evildoers say, a great exaltation!

O my Intimate in my lonesomeness!

O my haven when the ways make me

wa tusallimun al-aqribu
when relatives give me up
wa yakhdhulun kullu ibin
and when every companion forsakes
me!

turn away from me every care, grief
and distress,

protect me from the evil of that
which I cannot bear,
wa a`inn `al m uqu
and help me in that which I am able
to bear!

and Thamd, and did not spare

and the people of Noah before;

certainly, they were most unjust and
more rebellious,

and al-Mu'tafikah, He also
overthrew.

Lot

and crushed the people of Shu`ayb!

O He Who took Abraham for a
friend!

O You Who took Moses for an object
of His words,
wattkhadha muammadan
all allhu `alayhi wa lih wa
`alayhim ajma`na abban
and took Muammad, may Allah
bless him and his Household, for a
beloved!
y mu'tiya luqmna alikmata
O He Who gave Luqmn wisdom,
walwhiba lisulaymna mulkan
and bestowed upon Solomon a
kingdom
l yanbagh li'aadin min
ba`dih
such as may not befit anyone after
him!
y man naara dhalqarnayni
`al almulki aljabbirati
O He Who gave Dhul-Qarnayn
victory over the tyrannical kings!
y man a` alkhira alayata
O He Who gave al-Khair (eternal)
life
wa radda liysha`a bni nnin
alshshamsa ba`da ghurbih
and returned the sun to Joshua, the
son of Nn, after its setting!

and calmed the anger of Moses!

O He Who gave Zachariah the good
news of the birth of John!

aldhdhabi bidhibin `amin
O He Who ransomed Ishmael from
the sacrifice with a mighty sacrifice!
y man qabila qurbna hbla
O He Who accepted the sacrifice of
Abel
wa ja`ala alla`nata `al qbla
and placed a curse upon Cain!
y hzima al-azbi
limuammadin all allhu
`alayhi wa lih
O He Who routed the parties for
Muammad, may Allah bless him
and his Household!

(please do) Bless Muammad, the
household of Muammad,
wa `al jam`i almursalna wa
mal'ikatika almuqarrabna
all the messengers, Your archangels,
wa ahli `atika ajma`na
and all those who obey You!
wa as'aluka bikulli mas'alatin
sa'alaka bih aadun
I beseech You the supplication of
every one who has besought you
mimman rata `anhu
faatamta lah `al al-ijbati
and with whom You have been
pleased and thus decided to grant
his request.

sammayta bih nafsaka
I beseech You by every Name with
which You have named Yourself
aw anzaltah f shay'in min
kutubika
or which You have sent down in one
of Your scriptures
aw ista'tharta bih f `ilmi
alghaybi `indaka
or kept for Yourself in the knowledge
of the Unseen with You,
wa bima`qidi al`izzi min
`arshika
by the junctures of might for Your
Throne,
wa bimuntah alrramati min
kitbika
by the utmost limit of mercy from
Your Book,
wa bim wa law anna m f al-
ari min shajaratin aqlmun
by the fact that, though all the trees
in the earth were pens
walbaru yamudduh min
ba`dih sab`atu aburin
and the sea - seven seas after it to
replenish it,
m nafidat kalimtu allhi
yet the words of Allah not be spent.
inna allha `azzun akmun
Allah is All-mighty, All-wise.
wa as'aluka bi-asm'ika
alusn
And I beseech You by Your Most
Excellent Names
:
allat na`attah f kitbika
faqulta
that You have described in Your
book thus saying,
wa lillhi al-asm'u alusn
fad`hu bih
To Allah belong the Most Excellent
Names, so call Him by them!

wa qulta ud`n astajib lakum
And You said: Call upon Me and I
will answer you.
:
wa qulta wa idh sa'alaka
`ibd `ann fa'inn qarbun
And You said: And when My
servants ask you concerning Me,
then surely I am very near;
ujbu da`wata aldd` idh
da`ni
I answer the prayer of the suppliant
when he calls on Me.
:
wa qulta qul y `ibdiya
alladhna asraf `al
anfusihim
And You said: Say: O My servants
who have been prodigal against
yourselves;
l taqna min ramati allhi
do not despair of Allah's mercy.
inna allha yaghfiru
aldhdhunba jam`an
Surely, Allah forgives all sins.
innah huwa alghafru
alrramu
Surely, He is the All-forgiving, the
All-compassionate.
wa an as'aluka y ilh
And I ask You, O my God,
wa ad`ka y rabbi
I call You, O my Lord,
wa arjka y sayyid
I please You, O my Master,
wa ama`u f ijbat y
mawlya kam wa`adtan
and I desire for You to respond to
me, O my Protector, just as You have
promised me
wa qad da`awtuka kam
amartan
for I have called You just as You
have commanded me.
faf`al b m anta ahluh y
karmu
So, do to me what is worthy of You,
O All-generous!
walamdu lillhi rabbi
al`lamna
All praise be to Allah, the Lord of the
Worlds.

muammadin wa lih
ajma`na
May Allah bless Muammad and his
entire Household.
Then you may pray Almighty Allah to grant you your personal requests and they will be granted, Allah willing.
According to the narration mentioned in Muhaj al-Da`awt, one must say this supplication while being in a state of ritual
purity.
