Deportation: The Injustice of our Country

Many topics were heated up and brought to light by the immigration reform of 2013. One
of these topics is deportation. There are many arguments on the subject, like the effect it
has on families with children who are already citizens. Each day, these innocent people are
brutally persecuted and cast out of the country just for wanting a better life in a country they
believe in so much. In my opinion, no matter how you slice it, the way deportation is
conducted today is just plain wrong.

Some might argue that they dont care. To that I say, To not care, to force someone to go
back to a place that they have given everything to get out of and come here, what kind of
monster are you?All they want is a happy life and the truth is that they actually help our
country when we need it the most. Have the heart, morality, and brains to allow someone a
better life especially since it stimulates our economy anyway.

First off, what happens to the children of these supposed illegal immigrants that are
already citizens by birth? What happens is that they deport the parents and leave the
children alone. No family to go to. Destined to be swallowed by and lost in the system.
According to Francisco Miravals article Thousands of Children of Deported Parents get
Stuck in Foster Care he states that there are at least 500,000 children left in foster care in
the United States today because their parents were deported. When I was young, I was
separated from my parents and put into foster care. It was a terrible experience, I cried
myself to sleep every night with no desire stronger than the one to go home. I was simply
taken away from my parents and was able to visit them, the children of these deported
immigrants will be lucky to ever see their parents again. Who are we to subject these
children to that?

Second, bad business owners will use things such as threats of deportation to lower the
pay illegally for their immigrant workers. That just isnt right. Why would you constantly
punish someone who has it hard enough already? Running your business based on fear is
just a bad work ethic anyway, especially since the boss would ultimately get into the most
trouble for firing them in the first place. If deportation is stopped, then these threats will stop
as well. Finally, these people will get the treatment they deserve.

Finally, there is the logical cause for letting the immigrants stay. The fact of the matter is
that they stimulate our crippled economy. As Dr. Raul Hinojosa-Ojeda writes in his report Raising the
Floor for American Workers: The Economic Benefits of Comprehensive Immigration Reform, a future flow of legal
workers would result in a large economic benefita cumulative $1.5 trillion in added U.S. gross domestic product
over 10 years. Others may argue that they steal jobs that belong to Americans. However,
without immigrants, our work force would be extremely weak. Why would we kick out the
logical cure for our economic sickness? To me, it seems like the equivalent to refusing
antibiotics.

Also, let us not forget that every so called American today is a descendant of an
immigrant. If anyone is so keen on deporting the immigrants might as well deport
themselves too. That is unless theyre Native American, but, thats beside the point. My
point is that, at this point, we might as well live and let live. As much of a shot below the
belt as it is, its still the truth.

In the end, it is you that needs to make the harsh decisions. You have to make the
decision because you are the ones voting. However, I certainly hope you found the
information in this article enlightening. No matter what, my view will never sift. I will always
feel that the way deportation is conducted is atrocious. If the person is a ruthless criminal,
then by all means, kick them out of the country, not if they are simply trying to live. The
choice is yours, will you let these people live in fear of being found out and thrown out, or
will you help them?
