Pradesh & Thiyyas of South Malbar For Hindus this custom was abolished by Hindu Marriage Act 1955

Generally Muslims practice Polygamy Sunni can take more than 4 wives Shia cannot take more than 4 wives

Proper age of marriage according to Hindus , Christian & Parsi marriage act: Girl: 18 Boys : 21 Marriage below specified ages lead to penal consequences under the Child Marriage Restraint Acts, 1929-78 According to Muslims a girl can marry after she reaches the age of puberty that is 15 years with her fathers permission
