UPS & Batteries

Uninterruptable power supplies, or UPS, are needed to provide clean, reliable power. A perfect power supply would always be available, maintain proper voltage and frequency, and have a pure sinusoidal waveform. UPS systems help ensure high quality power by providing backup power from batteries during utility power outages or problems. They regulate voltage, frequency, and waveform. UPS systems use power electronics components like rectifiers and inverters to convert and regulate power, providing flexibility but also introducing some harmonics if not properly designed.

Rule of Power Electronics

High efficiency due to low loss in power semiconductor devices. High reliability of power electronic converter system. Long life and less maintenance due to absence of any moving parts. Flexibility in operation. Fast system. dynamic response compared to electromechanical converter Small size and less weight, thus low installation cost. Butalso: Introducing harmonics, notches, etc. Very sensitive to bad power quality.
