Ews Release: Attempted Robbery-Attempted To Identify, 3400 S Harlem Ave. Riverside, Il Amstar Gas Station

An attempted robbery occurred on January 9, 2014 at the AmStar Gas Station in Riverside, Illinois. A black male, approximately 20 years old and 5'2" tall with a thin build, entered the store wearing a dark green hoodie. When the clerk became uneasy and started to lock the front door, the man grabbed her from behind and said "Come on". However, the clerk was able to slip away and lock the door, causing the man to flee on foot north toward nearby railroad tracks. Police are seeking any information to help identify the suspect and can be contacted through Detective Sergeant Frank Lara.

Attempted Robbery-Attempted to Identify, 3400 S Harlem Ave. Riverside, IL AmStar Gas Station
On January 9, 2014 at 1:52AM, a male black, 20, 52, thin build; last seen wearing a dark green hoodie with an unknown logo on the left breast came into the AmStar Gas Station via the north parking lot, walked into the store and started looking at a candy display. The clerk was busy cleaning up in the rear of the store and became uneasy about him. She started walking towards the front counter locked door, removed her key to open it when she was grabbed from behind by the above subject who was standing a few feet away. The subject said to her, Come on". The clerk was able to slip away from the subjects grasp and used both hands to pull the security door closed. The subject fled from the store via the front door and ran north through the parking lot towards the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks located a few hundred yards away.
