Cold Chain Solutions to Reduce Food Waste

India has the potential to be the food basket of the world as the second largest producer of vegetables and fruits. However, 30-35% of India's 60 million tons of fruits and vegetables, worth Rs. 580 billion, goes to waste each year due to a lack of adequate cold storage and other facilities in the cold chain. Developing India's cold chain infrastructure could minimize food waste, drive down food prices, boost rural employment, and help reduce poverty. The government needs to provide more support to improve cold chain facilities and enable India's fresh foods industry to survive and grow.
