API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspection Code
ASME Code :
ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code.
ASME Code applies to new construction, however most of the design requirements, welding, examinations and materials shall be applied to the API 510 interpretation requirements.

Inspection organization of owner or user of pressure vessel Independent organization or Individual recognized for inspection
On-stream Inspection: - Inspection used to establish suitability of
pressure vessel for continued operation. The vessel may or may not be in operation while under NDE (Non-destructive Examination). Vessel is not entered for internal examination.

Pressure Vessel Engineer:
Knowledgeable and experienced person of engineering discipline for evaluating mechanical and material characteristics which affect the integrity and reliability of pressure vessels. He may derive help from appropriate specialists.
Repair :
Work necessary to restore vessel to safe operation at design or re-rated operating condition. Repair Organization: The owner or user of the vessel who repairs his equipments as per inspection code. It may be a contractor with acceptable qualification to repair the vessel as per inspection code.

Re-rating :
A change in either the temperature or maximum allowable working pressure of vessel. De-rating to below original design condition is done to keep the vessel safe in case of excess corrosion. When a re-rating aims at increased working pressure or temperature or decrease in minimum temperature, so that additional mechanical tests are required, it is considered as Alteration.
Examiner :
Person assisting authorized pressure vessel inspector for NDE and other relevant metallurgical examinations.

Fitness-for- service Assessment:
Assessment methods whereby flaws and conditions contained in the vessel components or structures are assessed to determine integrity of the equipment for continued service.
