Marianne Katoppo was a renowned Indonesian theologian who spoke 10 languages and wrote extensively. She began writing at age 8 for a Dutch magazine. After graduating from Jakarta Theological Seminary, she taught theology from a women's perspective and earned a Licenciaat Theology degree from the Institute of Oecumenique Bossey in Switzerland. Ferdinand Suleeman Marianne Katoppo Known as Marianne or Yetty, she was an adorable theologian from Indonesia who owned many famous writings. Being so intelligent, she incredibly spoke in 10 different languages, seen in her attractive writings. She was known as a writer since 1951 (in the age of 8). She wrote in a rubric for children in a Dutch-language magazine called Nieuwgier. In addition, her writing can also be found in various magazines, such as Mutiara, Ragi Buana, Femina, and Harian Sinar Harapan. After graduated from Jakarta Theological Seminary, she taught and wrote about theology in women perspectives. She earned her Licenciaat Theology degree from the Institute of Oecumenique Bossey in Swiss and returned to start her effort to raise the women dignity. She is well-known for her concern to the fate of women in the third world countries. For the sake of principle, Marianne didnt mind about the popularity. She didnt even care about being seen as a prosecutor because of her criticality on Kartini, whereas she appreciated the thoughts of Kartini. In a Friday afternoon on October 2007, she died by heart attack, and was cremated in Oasil Lestari, Tangerang.
