Digestion Table

The document summarizes the key organs and glands involved in human nutrition and digestion. The mouth contains teeth and tongue for mastication while the stomach contains gastric glands that secrete gastric juice containing HCl and pepsin to kill microorganisms and aid protein digestion. The small intestine contains the liver, pancreas and intestinal glands that secrete enzymes to further break down proteins, carbohydrates and fats into smaller molecules that can be absorbed via the villi into blood vessels. Undigested waste is then passed through the large intestine and removed through the anus.

The villi are richly supplied (Jejunum, with blood vessels which take the absorbed food to the cells of the Ileum) body where it is utilized for obtaining energy, repairing old tissues and building new tissues.
