Forces Affecting Organizational Behavior

Forces affecting organizational behavior include people, structure, technology, and environment. Globalization and information technology impact organizations by changing the workforce and work environment relations. Kotler outlines an 8 step process for implementing organizational change which includes establishing urgency, forming a team, creating and communicating a vision, empowering others, developing short term goals, consolidating improvements, and reinforcing change. Motivation is a process that directs behavior towards achieving goals and has three elements - intensity of effort, direction of effort, and persistence of effort. There are two types of motivation - extrinsic where others influence through words, and intrinsic where self-influence comes from analyzing experiences or role models.

Motivation Motivation as a process is a drive that directs an individuals behavior towards the achievement of a goal. There are 3 elements of motivation 1. Intensity:-it is described as how hard a person tries. This is the basic elements in which most of as focus on. 2. Direction:-however intensity is unlikely to lead to favorable job-performance unless it is given a perfect direction. 3. Persistence: - it is how long a person can maintain his effort. Motivations are of 2 types 1. Extensive:- which others influence us through words 2 intensive:- in this type we get influence among our self by analyzing our previous experiences or by looking at others life experience whom we call as an role model.
