Cultural Exchange Projects Overview

The document discusses a link between a UK school and a school in another country to teach students about different cultures. The UK school organized a project where students made booklets about themselves, and received a reply from the other school about life in their school. Most recently, each class researched a topic about London, such as money, transportation, and the royal family, to help students in the other country learn about UK culture. The UK school is now looking forward to receiving a return project from the other school at the end of the term.

As part of our link we hope to teach the children more about the culture and experiences in other countries.

The first project we organised was the Autumn Term 2011. Each class made a booklet which was given the title All About Me. We included as much detail as possible to explain what being a pupil in our school is like. (See Word document 5as Link Booklet)

In the Spring Term 2012 Dukem school replied and sent us a project all about what life was like in their school. We enjoyed reading their letters and looking at drawings in an assembly. (See PowerPoint Presentation Work Assembly)

Most recently we have sent a project to our link school that was all about London. Each year group was given a different topic to look into and explain to the children of Dunkem that element of our culture.
Year 1 - Money Year 4 - Tourist attractions Year 2 - Transport Year 5 - The Olympics Year 3 - Traditional Food and Drink Year 6 - The Royal Family Here is an example of the booklet year 6 sent to our link school about The Royal Family. (See Word document 6bs Link Booklet 2)

We look forward to receiving Dukem Elementary Schools project at the end of this term.
