Fullertons Friday Newsletter


September 21st, 2012
This week in Reading we read Hippos which is a non fiction text with facts about Hippos. We also read The Surpise which is fictional about hippos, George and Martha, who talk and wear silly clothes. We used a Venn Diagram to compare how these stories were similar and different. In Social Studies, we made classroom maps to learn about compass roses and direction words. In Math, we worked on more subtraction strategies and relating addition to subtraction by making Fact Families. In Spelling, next week the students will have different lists depending on their results from past spelling tests. This way each child can be appropriately challenged. This was sent home in their Friday folders. If you have misplaced it you can email me and I will let you know if they will be using list A, B, or C which you can download off the 2nd grade website. At the end of the week the students will all take their tests in the computer lab through spellingcity.com so they can work at their own pace and hear the words repeated as much as they need. Also, you can access this website at home for your child to take practice tests. This week was MUCH better with homework. Thank you so much for your support at home. 2

Spelling for the week of 9-24-12


Starting 9/21/12 the students will be taking their spelling tests online at www.spellingcity.com To access at home: 1. Click on Find a List 2. Type in Fullerton and click search. Then click on Charlotte Fullerton next to Unity East 3. Click on the date and letter of your childs list to play games or practice tests.
