Security

By using multiple clusters, you can distribute your applications or microservices based on each team’s responsibilities. Manage access to your clusters by assigning permissions based on user roles.

Scalability

Deploy and manage infrastructure with more than 1,000 clusters, and rely on the OVHcloud infrastructure to adapt your compute, storage or data resource requirements on demand.

Support

Our solution is designed in partnership with SUSE and powered by OVHcloud, which is why we are committed to supporting your cloud-native projects. You get comprehensive support via a single point of contact.

Use case examples

scalable OVHcloud

Infrastructure modernisation and scaling

Running applications with microservices can quickly involve managing and maintaining a complex architecture. Run your applications from a single interface with Rancher. Access a large library of ready-to-use tools, and boost your productivity and application reliability.

Multi-cluster management

Building new cloud-native applications means choosing the right cloud providers for your Kubernetes clusters. With Rancher, you can install and monitor your cloud or on-premises Kubernetes clusters. You can also run them in several environments offered by multiple providers, at any time. Get RBAC access, manage your security setups and easily apply them to clusters.

Edge computing with K3Ss

Running applications on virtual or physical machines can mean neglecting the underlying infrastructure. With Rancher and K3s, you can install and monitor your clusters anywhere, even on limited distributed infrastructure, regardless of occasional lack of connectivity.

Your questions answered

What is the difference between the Managed Rancher Service and the Managed Kubernetes Service?

The Managed Rancher Service makes it easy to manage multiple Kubernetes clusters, including those created with the Managed Kubernetes Service.

The Managed Kubernetes Service is a managed service for managing your containerised applications within the same Kubernetes cluster.

The two services are complementary, but one does not necessarily require the use of the other.

You can manually manage your Kubernetes clusters created with Managed Kubernetes without using Managed Rancher.

Alternatively, you can use the Managed Rancher Service to manage Kubernetes clusters other than those created with the Managed Kubernetes Service, such as Kubernetes clusters on OVHcloud Bare Metal servers, or with other cloud providers (on-premises or otherwise).

What is the difference between the Managed Rancher Service and the Rancher solution offered by SUSE?

The Managed Rancher Service includes all the features available in SUSE Rancher. You focus on your downstream clusters (clusters that host your business applications), while Rancher’s deployment, operational maintenance and security updates are taken care of by OVHcloud.

We have signed a support contract with SUSE, making us your single point of contact for support on the Rancher platform.

What is the guaranteed SLA for Managed Rancher Service?

Our SLA guarantees 99.9% availability.

How much do I need to pay for Managed Rancher Service?

Managed Rancher Service comes in two plans — ‘OVHcloud Edition’ and ‘Standard’, available on a pay-as-you-go basis. You will be billed based on the total number of vCPUs used in your downstream clusters.

  • OVHCloud Edition plan: US$0.0076 ex. GST/vCPU/hour
  • Standard plan: US$0.019 ex. GST/vCPU/hour

Can I use the Managed Rancher Service to manage machines and/or clusters outside OVHcloud?

Yes, you can manage any Kubernetes cluster (from OVHcloud, other cloud providers, or on-premises) via the Managed Rancher Service.
