Its main purpose is to facilitate compatibility with ANSI SQL <code>FLOAT<\/code> data types.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s the syntax of the <code>FLOAT<\/code> data type:<\/p>\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\" aria-describedby=\"shcb-language-1\" data-shcb-language-name=\"SQL (Structured Query Language)\" data-shcb-language-slug=\"sql\"><span><code class=\"hljs language-sql\">FLOAT(p)<\/code><\/span><small class=\"shcb-language\" id=\"shcb-language-1\"><span class=\"shcb-language__label\">Code language:<\/span> <span class=\"shcb-language__name\">SQL (Structured Query Language)<\/span> <span class=\"shcb-language__paren\">(<\/span><span class=\"shcb-language__slug\">sql<\/span><span class=\"shcb-language__paren\">)<\/span><\/small><\/pre>\n\n\n<p>In this syntax, Oracle allows you to specify the precision for the <code>FLOAT<\/code> data type. It does not let you specify the scale because the Oracle Database interprets the scale from the value. The maximum value of the precision (<code>p<\/code>) is 126 bits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oracle uses binary bits to measure the pricision in floating-point types. example, instead of using the <code>FLOAT(63)<\/code> data type, you can use the <code>REAL<\/code> alias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id='oracle-float-example'>Oracle FLOAT example <a
