Cookie Policy

This site uses cookies. A cookie is a small file that a website asks your browser to store on your computer or mobile device. It allows the website to recognise that device and store some information about the user’s preferences or past actions. Different cookies are stored on user devices for different amounts of time.

In general, cookies used by NCIMB are used to retain user cookie preferences, store information e.g. for the shopping cart, and provide anonymised tracking data to Google Analytics. However, you may prefer to disable cookies on this site and on others. Cookie settings allow different types of cookies to be enabled or disabled. Some cookies are essential for website functionality. These are strictly necessary cookies and cannot be disabled. For example, the cookie that saves cookie setting preferences cannot be disabled. Other cookies that are not necessary for website function can be disabled.

The NCIMB website has two parts. The main ncimb.com website and the store.ncimb.com subdomain that is a separate site containing our culture collection catalogue.

Analytics cookies

The NCIMB website uses Google Analytics (GA4). The GA4-JavaScript-tags use first-party cookies to distinguish unique users as well as unique sessions from a single user. This enables NCIMB to e.g. track changes in numbers of website visitors, duration of sessions and which pages are most frequently visited. This helps us to understand how visitors use our website. While these identifiers provide information about user behaviour, Google states that it does not log or store any IP addresses.

Vimeo

The NCIMB website users Vimeo to embed and play videos. We use the do not track setting. If you are a logged in Vimeo user, Vimeo may set cookies when you play videos on the NCIMB website. Logging out of Vimeo will prevent this. You can read more about this in Vimeo’s embedding videos page.
