There have been a few dustings of snow, but the first major snow of the season arrives this weekend (the first weekend of October). Below is an image from the National Weather Service with forecasted snow amounts.
All Regions
With snow this weekend, AVALANCHE SEASON HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN.
It's tremendous fun to get out in the early season snow regardless of the sport. Please remember that avalanches can happen on any snow covered slope. Hunters are especially vulnerable because they don't carry avalanche gear and are often alone.
Be safe out there and let us know what you see.
NEW for 2025-2026
We have an entirely new set of forecast pages that will launch on Tuesday, October 7th using the forecast platform developed by the National Avalanche Center. Each of our zones will have its own forecast page. We will also have an entirely new observation page. After Tuesday, we'll have a few more things to configure.
We also have a several new email addresses. Please use these to contact us.
