The Beginning: 1963

MSA was founded by Dr. Alfred A. Kuehn, PhD, a chemical engineer and faculty member at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business.

Mission

The company was built on Dr. Kuehn’s principle: to identify new and challenging problems that require original solutions. This established the core mission of bringing a quantitative, data-driven approach to decision-making and problem-solving, informed by a deep understanding of the customer.

The Following Six Decades

MSA grew steadily by focusing on solving problems one customer and one project at a time. The company established a strong culture of customer service, emphasizing listening to and learning from clients to understand their specific challenges and opportunities.

Today

MSA now employs more than 700 people. The company serves a broad spectrum of industries—including CPG, Media, Healthcare, and Manufacturing—and works with some of the largest corporations in the world. The daily mission remains focused on using analytics and informatics to help clients inform decisions, forecast outcomes, and automate processes.
