The Case for Brain Breaks

Wednesday, April 22nd, 4:30 PM CT

Sometimes, for your students to truly learn deeply, they need a break first! In this 30-minute Model Teaching Spotlight Webinar, we make the case that the best response isn’t always to push through, but that sometimes, it’s best to press pause. Brain breaks are short, intentional moments of rest woven into your instruction. This webinar will discuss some research that supports brain breaks and then will delve into why they can improve your students’ focus, memory, and well-being. You’ll leave the webinar with a few very simple brains break activities you can implement immediately, with a new justification for why they can be so important and transformative in your classroom.

Thinking Together: Collaboration Skills in the Think-Pair-Share Model

Wednesday, May 20th, 4:30 PM CT

In this Model Teaching Spotlight webinar, you will explore Think-Pair-Share as a research-backed collaborative learning model and learn how to implement it effectively in any classroom. You will consider some elements that determine whether a collaboration activity produces strong learning, evaluate the kind of prompts you might build to promote higher-order thinking and peer discourse, and consider how you might use the think-pair-share collaborative structure to engage your students.
