"Folk music for the modern age"...

Duos come and go, but few nurture and refine their craft with such dedication and originality as Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman.

Enjoy the Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman 30th Anniversary Tour @kathrynrobertsandseanlakeman at Lewes Con Club on Wednesday 25th March.

Roberts and Lakeman have forged a creative bond that is as enduring as it is inspiring. Their 30 year journey together – from young trailblazers in the 1990s folk supergroup Equation to one of Britain’s most admired and decorated folk duos – stands as a testament to their artistry, authenticity, and masterful musicianship.

Their contribution to the British folk landscape has not gone unnoticed. Kathryn and Sean have twice been named ‘Best Duo’ at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, in addition to accolades from Spiral Earth and Fatea Magazine.

Their live shows, brimming with charm, wit, and musical mastery, have earned them a devoted following and a reputation as a cornerstone act of the British folk and acoustic scene.

In 2025, the duo celebrated an extraordinary 30 years of music-making with the release of their first live concert album, “Another Day at the Circus” which captures the warmth, humour, and emotional depth that have made their live performances so cherished; an invitation into the magic of an evening spent in the company of two artists completely at ease with their craft.

Somewhere within a lifetime of repeats, reruns and reboots, TVAM lives, crafting work which touch on our memories but toy with our fears. A world in which broadcast becomes performance.

Hypnotic tracks which straddle an impressive spectrum of influence; with Boards of Canada’s irresistible nostalgia, Suicide’s deconstructed rock’n’roll and MBV’s infinite noise all becoming touching points in Joseph Oxley’s musical output. Since his debut album, Psychic Data, first burst onto the scene (direct from a small bedroom studio in Wigan, UK), TVAM has defined the sound and spectacle of nostalgia’s grip on our lives; from the sloganeering of Porsche Majeure, to the electioneering of Semantics.

TVAM’s debut Psychic Data spawned an ‘Album Of The Day’ and two daytime playlists at BBC 6Music whilst signature tune ‘Porsche Majeure’ was KEXP Track Of The Day and featured in HBO’s smash-hit ‘Succession’. Pillow @pillowofficialband is excited to announce that Vol.2 of the @rafikistudio Rough and Ready Sessions is out on Wednesday 21st January (tomorrow).

He says - this live session is the second of a series of projects we’ve recorded with the incredible film maker Leo Sartain. It features a live rendition of our recent single ‘Song for Rain’, filmed in the beautiful St Michaels All Angels Church in Brighton.

Pillow is a Brighton Based modern classical outfit performing the dark and cinematic compositions of composer and multi instrumentalist James Osler.
The music captures the richness of a classical tone, whilst embracing the freedom of improvisation and storytelling of haunting folk-like melodies.
Sighting influence from artists such as Jonny Greenwood, Max Richter and Harold Budd to name a few, Pillow embarks on telling their own story
of how sounds can emerge and give meaning to life’s experiences.
This evening will be a rare opportunity to see them performing live as a full band and will be in celebration of the release of their debut album
'A Beginning and an End'. Expect to hear a blend of epic live strings, piano, guitar, synth and field recordings of a passing thunderstorm.

Ceann Capaill is a shape-shifting music project led by Irish multi-instrumentalist Declan Haughian.

Psychedelic rock, far out folk and wild analogue electronics...

MEMORIALS @memorialsmusic are Verity Susman (Electrelane) and Matthew Simms (Wire, Better Corners, It Hugs Back, Uuuu, Fitted). The duo channel the spirit of free jazz to create cosmic journeys through the garden shed into psychedelic rock, far out folk and wild analogue electronics, drawing comparisons to Broadcast, Portishead and The Velvet Underground.

They originally met as part of the Too Pure label in the late 2000s when Verity’s Electrelane rubbed shoulders with Matthew’s It Hugs Back, his band prior to joining influential post-punk band Wire as guitarist.

As multi-instrumentalists they have honed their sound for live shows as a duo, juggling instruments in a set-up resembling that of a 5-piece band and live looping on a reel-to-reel tape machine. Their music is incredibly varied yet retains its own distinctive identity and is produced entirely by the two in their own studio, utilising analogue recording techniques, tape machines and vintage effects.
