**🎤 Session Details: The Journey to Zero-Copy: How chDB Became the Fastest SQL Engine on Pandas DataFrame**
In this talk, Auxten Wang, creator and lead developer of chDB, shares the story of how the world’s fastest OLAP engine was made to fly on Pandas DataFrames, reducing query times from 30 seconds to just 0.5 seconds. He walks through chDB’s evolution from a serialization-bound prototype into a fully zero-copy SQL engine for Pandas, covering how DataFrame and Parquet round-trips were eliminated, how Python GIL limitations were overcome, and how string handling was rethought for parallel performance. The result is true DataFrame in and DataFrame out SQL with ClickHouse speed, delivering up to 200× faster analytics, native JSON support, streaming for data larger than RAM, and a complete zero copy loop with no servers, no setup, and no friction.
**Speaker: Auxten Wang, Technical Director @ ClickHouse**
Auxten Wang is a Technical Director at ClickHouse with 15 years of experience designing high-performance databases, recommender of systems, and infrastructure across startups and major tech firms. He co-founded CovenantSQL and contributed storage-layer and write-query functionality to a decentralized SQL database with blockchain features, and is an active author/contributor to ClickHouse and low-level projects like jemalloc, Kubernetes, and Memcached. His background includes leading RecSys and infrastructure teams as Principal Engineer at Shopee and director-level roles at 4Paradigm, combining production ML/recsys experience with rigorous systems engineering. Early at Baidu he architected and implemented Gingko—the company’s p2p large-dataset distribution system—writing the majority of its C++ code and applying a Dynamo-inspired design. Based in Singapore, he brings a rare mix of hands-on C/C++ systems work, testing and storage engineering, and product-driven startup leadership.
**🎤 Session Details: Powering Bullet's Sub-millisecond Perpetuals Trading Platform**
Tristan Frizza, Co-Founder and CTO of Sierra Research, shares their multi-year journey to delivering low latency and near real time trading data, charts, leaderboards, and analytics at scale. This talk explores the evolution from data lakes and complex, painful serving architectures to a streamlined single source of truth powered by ClickHouse Cloud, highlighting the technical lessons learned in building fast, reliable analytics for demanding trading workloads.
**Speaker: Tristan Frizza, Co-Founder and CTO @ Sierra Research**
Tristan Frizza is the Co-Founder and CTO of Sierra Research, focused on building the financial infrastructure the world deserves. Originally from Australia and now based in Singapore, he has led the development of high-performance trading and consumer systems, including a decentralized trading platform with over 100,000 users and $15B in notional volume. Previously, Tristan worked in machine learning and data science roles at Atlassian, Nearmap, and Lumaway, to name a few, building large-scale ML systems and data infrastructure used by tens of millions of users.

Party of Fives: Boardgames Beyond on Sundays
Welcome to the Party of Fives Meetups!
If you are a gamer who wants to go beyond the usual PARTY gaming fare at boardgame meetups and cafes, this is it!
We don't usually play Cards against Humanity, Exploding Kittens and Unstable Unicorns. That's just us. Make us play if you can.
We will be playing an assortment of board games ranging from light strategic kinds to heavy thematic ones. Games we usually play range from light ones like Azul, Splendor, Jamaica to medium ones like Yokohama, Endeavor and Nippon and of course heavy ones like Twilight Imperium, Gloomhaven, Tainted Grail and Kingdom Death Monster!
Do not be surprised if you see us painting miniatures or are engaged in some sort of insanely time-consuming enhancements towards our game elements in our games. Everyone get their kick in different ways. :) Painting groups are also in their groups of fives ...
For the game designers out there, just tell us that you are a creator when you see us and we will have our own private creative sessions mapped out in a feasible way. Most others don't care so we should not disturb the force unnecessarily.
We will contact you when you sign up and place you into appropriate messaging groups with different needs to facilitate further communication. Total noobs are totally welcome!
While we don't serve food ourselves, we are smack right in the middle of the legendary Golden Mile premises with an huge range of eateries from super curry puffs, loud Japanese izakaya food, heavenly chicken rice with steamboat, hellish black burgers and authentic Thai food that is just sick. All within a pebble's throw away.
Tea and dinner sessions (at our own expenses) usually follow the gaming sessions according to our designated groups. Due to the current Covid-19 and social distancing restrictions, you are not allowed to join us for these food consuming sessions only. For your understanding, please
If you have something specific in mind, do a shout out below and we see if we can help within reasonable grounds.
There will be a charge of SGD $15 (ARENA: $15), (HEAVY/CAMPAIGN GAMES: $25) collected at the door (in cash) to help with the running of the event.
How to sign up for our sessions:
• Join the Singapore Manga Anime Games & Cosplay Assembly as a member.
• RSVP below and retain a screenshot of your RSVP as proof.
• Note that without proof of RSVP you will not be allowed into the premises.
• Note that those who sign up but do not show up will not be allowed to sign up for future Party of Five sessions.
• Note that RSVP closes 6 hours before the event takes place.
For those who will like to form groups to play other games, feel free to shout out your intentions at the comments section below:
Note that there won’t be any game masters around to help you with your games on site.
The meetup will run from the time stated to the time ended.
By signing up for this meetup, you agree to the terms and conditions set above.
TKG Manga Drawing Foundation Course
Welcome to the TKG Manga Drawing Foundation Course!
This is for young to not-so-young aspiring artists across a number of ages who wants to try manga drawing in a structured and guided face to face environment.
We have 4 categories:
A.9-11 years. They say the best manga talents start doodling at 4-7 years. This is the next best thing. Art in school is boring. You want to be better than your art teacher. This is it.
B. 12-18 years. Some of the best years for learning manga drawing early. Be mindful that this is not your usual school CCA. It is lit.
C. 19-28 years. You have decided to learn drawing at a more serious level. You like manga. You want to meet people of similar interest and who are equally serious about it. This is gonna be awesome.
D. 29-45 years. You have sort of put this off for some time and you decided that this is time to revisit this hobby again for whatever reason. You want to be professional while you still can because some damn 9 year old is starting on the dream you want and you are just salty. It could also be the last opportunity you can live your mangaka dream and you want to take the plunge. YOLO.
Classes are usually conducted on Saturdays or Sundays in 2 hours blocks from 2 pm onwards. Do let us know your schedule and we see if it works out. Go ahead and meet us for a chat. There are no obligations.
The starting cost is $280 per month for an equivalent of 8 hours or 4 sessions. We know it is not cheap. It should not be. Welcome to Singapore.
You can check out what we do at www.tkgcc.com. We are also involved in tabletop games and a variety of pop culture related muses. We are a living example of what manga drawing can lead to.
As a general overview, the TKG Comic Circle uses 3 tiers of advancement at the Bronze, Silver and Gold levels.

From Watching to Doing: Using AI and Mixed Reality to Get Jobs Done
Disclaimer: Women Devs SG is a community to encourage more women to excel in their tech careers. As such, if you are a male, only attend if another woman can accompany you 🙏🏼
“What does it look like when software stops living only on screens and starts interacting with the physical world?”
Most software engineers are familiar with building systems that respond to clicks, APIs, and events. But a new class of systems is emerging where software also sees, understands, and acts in the real world. This talk introduces that shift in an accessible, developer friendly way.
We will explore how modern AI systems connect perception (like images and language) to real world actions, and how developers design feedback loops where machines can observe, decide, and act. Using simple examples from robotics and manufacturing, we will break down complex ideas into familiar software concepts like event loops, state, and orchestration.
In this session, you will learn:
\* How “sense think act” systems map to patterns software engineers already know
\* How computer vision and language models are combined to drive real world actions
\* How XR can be used as a developer interface to monitor and guide intelligent systems
\* What kinds of engineering roles and skills are emerging in this space
No background in robotics or AI is required. This talk is designed to build intuition, not expertise, and to give you a broader view of where software engineering is heading beyond traditional web and backend systems.
