Google Summer of Code
The Wikimedia Foundation has participated in the Google Summer of Code every year since 2006, other than 2025 (when it was rejected due to a clerical error). Google Summer of Code (GSoC) is a program sponsored and run by Google. It is an online, global program focused on bringing new contributors to open-source software development. GSoC contributors work with an open-source organization on a 12+ week programming project under the guidance of mentors. The WMF's participation is overseen by Wikimedia's Developer Advocacy team.
