Understanding Pregnancy Termination Cost at Marie Stopes
Making the decision to end a pregnancy is deeply personal, and we believe financial uncertainty should never be a barrier to safe care. At Marie Stopes South Africa, we are committed to offering transparent, fair pricing for all termination of pregnancy services – so you can focus on what matters most: your health and wellbeing.
Pregnancy termination cost varies depending on the type of procedure, how far along the pregnancy is, and the centre you visit. There are two main options available:
Medical Termination of Pregnancy (up to 9 weeks) A medical termination of pregnancy uses a combination of two prescribed medications – mifepristone and misoprostol – to safely end a pregnancy. This is the most affordable termination option and is also available via our Tele-Abortion service, allowing you to complete the process from home. The pregnancy termination cost for a medical procedure includes your nurse consultation, prescribed medication, and post-abortion contraception.
Surgical Termination of Pregnancy (up to 20 weeks) A surgical termination of pregnancy is a safe, same-day procedure performed at one of our centres by a qualified provider. Pricing varies according to gestation, and all costs are clearly communicated before your appointment. There are no hidden fees.

Medical Aid Coverage If you have medical aid, you may not need to pay out of pocket at all. Under South African law, voluntary termination of pregnancy is classified as a Prescribed Minimum Benefit, meaning your medical aid scheme is required to cover it. We recommend contacting your scheme directly to confirm your benefits, and our team is also available to assist you in navigating this process.
Online Payment Options
To enhance your experience and reduce waiting times, we recommend pre-payment for your appointment. Pre-paying allows for a smoother check-in process, ensuring that you can focus on your health and well-being during your visit. Please note that some services require a full payment when confirming your booking.
EFT/Instant EFT
You are advised to do an EFT payment (if it is your preferred method of payment) 3 days prior to your booking date to avoid any delays in confirmation of payment and to secure your booking in advance.
Apple Pay
Make secure and convenient payments using your Apple device, ensuring a hassle-free transaction experience.
Samsung Pay
Utilise Samsung Pay for quick and secure payments, adding another layer of convenience to your experience.
Mobicred
Mobicred is a simple & convenient credit facility that allows you to safely pay online. Your Mobicred account allows you to make one single monthly payment for all your purchases with a revolving credit limit.
Mukuru Pay
Mukuru Pay allows you to pay your bills with ease. Customers receive a unique code via SMS or email, then use the code to make a cash payment with ease at any Mukuru outlet.
SCode Pay
When you choose to pay with SCode you will receive a barcoded email or SMS after checkout. You can either print the email or take your mobile phone with the SMS to any participating retailer to make the payment using cash, debit or credit card
RCS Store Card
Like a credit card, your RCS card can be used to make payments on credit with Marie Stopes. As with a credit card you pay back what you have purchased according to the terms and conditions or according to a budget repayment plan that you select.

Medical Aid
We accept medical aid, subject to scheme rules and available benefits. Please check with us or your medical aid provider for specific details on coverage.
Card Machine
Card machines are available at all our centres and you have the option to swipe in a centre.
Cash Deposit
Speak to a service consultant about the deposit process before hand.
Pre-payment Policy
1. All TOP bookings require a full prepayment at least 24 hours before the actual appointment date and time. At the initial booking stage, clients will be given a provisional booking and if payment is not made 24 hours prior, the slot will become available for the next client wanting the service.

3. Telemeds require a full payment prior to the actual consultation.
4. In cases of clients who “Do Not Attend” the , the full amount paid is non-refundable.
5. Clients need to produce a proof payment at the time of presenting for the service.

What is included in the termination of pregnancy cost? All Marie Stopes pricing is inclusive — your consultation, the procedure or medication, and post-abortion contraception are all covered within your package. There are no surprise charges on the day.
