GPX Maps

Within Team Maps you can view a GPX map for any GPX feed that you have created within a Team Map.

To create a new Team Map click this link to Create a New Team Map then select 'GPX' and follow the instructions.

See this Tutorial for a guide to creating a map from a GPX feed.

There are two Leaflet-based tools available to map route data in GPX format :

(1) GPX Maps - displays just a map and elevation chart (see image to left).

(2) Video GPX Maps - used when a YouTube video ID is specified (see image below).

Embedding

You can easily add a GPX map to a web page by copying and pasting a simple HTML script.

Local Hosting

You can download all the files required to locally host a GPX map on your computer or website. No API key is required for these maps since they use the free Leaflet API.

What Is GPX ?

GPX is a data format widely used by GPS systems. More information is available at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPS_Exchange_Format.

Tools To Create GPX Files

A number of mobile apps are available to record GPX tracks. One recommended app is GPS Logger which is a simple, free GPX recorder.

Demonstration Map

This GPX Map shows an embeddable map with an elevation chart. Controls are available to (1) Play/pause the animation and (2) View Satellite/Street View imagery for a map location.

Click on the map or the elevation chart to select the nearest point along the route.

The map displays trail data from 360 TrailView, a website which lets you virtually explore ATV trails using panoramic YouTube videos and Google Maps.

Please contact us if you have any questions or requests for new features for GPX Maps.
