Maine Community Foundation creates positive impact in every part of Maine is through its county and regional funds. These funds are permanent resources powered by and for local communities and have delivered over $25.5 million in private donations to nonprofit and other organizations in all 16 Maine counties.

Building a Better Forest Economy

The Maine Community Foundation’s commitment to economic opportunity in every part of Maine led to an important investment in the Northern Forest Center’s early operations in Millinocket and the Katahdin Region. Today, the Center has secured or leveraged $260 million, supports 10,000 jobs, and has protected 259,000 acres for community benefit as part of its mission to build a new, prosperous forest future across the region.
