Off(enbach) to Detroit – two industrial cities that know a thing or two about building things that actually work. Next week, Phillipp, Nils and I we’ll be at XPONENTIAL Show, Huntington Place. Let me be straightforward about what XPONENTIAL is and what it isn't. It's not a sales floor. It’s where the community that's actually building the future of autonomous systems meets, argues, aligns and occasionally grabs a beer together. That's genuinely valuable. In a market full of noise right now, I'd actually argue it's more valuable than ever. The question we're expecting most this year: What does aviation-grade certification actually mean for an actuator and how do you benefit from everything we've gained over the last few years? It's a fair question. And frankly, the answer deserves more than a datasheet. Because certification isn't a checkbox, rather the difference between a component that passed a field test and a component that has been qualified to perform, be maintained, and replaced in the field across the full operational lifecycle of a platform. For anyone building something that's supposed to fly more than once, that distinction is the whole story. So, if you're there and want to talk actuation, certification or just how two industrial cities managed to stay relevant while everyone around them was pivoting: you know where to find us. I’m particularly excited about a new piece of defense programming we are bringing to XPONENTIAL Detroit this year: an unclassified, interactive tabletop exercise that gives industry innovators a true seat at the table. Wargaming is becoming increasingly popular (and necessary), but it almost always excludes meaningful industry participation. On Monday, May 11 from 11:30-3:30, we are flipping that model. We are convening a group of brilliant multi-domain, global, academic, and enabling tech experts for a Coalition Autonomy Readiness tabletop to stress-test what enables and limits autonomy at scale in contested environments. A detail I love about this group: many of our experts, including Matt Dooley who had the original idea, have roots in West Point or the Naval Academy, which brings a rare blend of military practicality and industry innovation into the same room. This session is designed for defense-focused innovators who want to contribute insights that can strengthen the broader defense and military ecosystem, with a look from the outside in. It also directly connects to the conversations we will be carrying into the Monday evening keynote featuring Hon. Mike C., Assistant Secretary of War for Industrial Base Policy in conversation with Arthur Herman, author of Freedom’s Forge.
