Faster data without waiting for full thermal equilibrium is becoming a real differentiator in high-throughput environments. This post highlights how predictive modelling is being applied in calorimetry to estimate final heat flux early in the measurement cycle. Instead of waiting for full stabilisation, software like HEAT-CHECK uses the initial portion of the curve to forecast the final result, reducing overall test time. Visit product: https://lnkd.in/end9-n9U For many labs, particularly those working with nuclear materials or regulated processes, the balance between speed and certainty is critical. The ability to shorten analysis time while maintaining confidence in the data can significantly improve operational efficiency. From a practical perspective, this approach is highly relevant across: • Nuclear material characterisation where throughput and safety constraints limit measurement time • R&D environments needing faster screening of thermal behaviour without bottlenecks • Quality control workflows where repeatable trends matter more than absolute equilibrium timing • Any lab under pressure to increase sample throughput without scaling equipment At SciMed, we support customers integrating advanced thermal analysis solutions like this into real workflows, helping ensure the balance between speed, accuracy, and compliance is right for the application. Smarter measurement strategies are not just about saving time. They are about enabling better decisions, faster. If you are looking to improve throughput in your thermal analysis workflow, speak to our team or explore the available solutions. Why not contact David Dale for more information?

In some nuclear facilities, the challenge is not only measuring nuclear materials accurately, it’s also keeping up with the characterization flow. In calorimetry, measurement time mainly depends on the time required for the thermal equilibrium of the container inside the calorimeter. For a given container type, this thermal stabilization follows a predictable curve that can be mathematically modeled. The HEAT-CHECK software uses a predictive algorithm that estimates the final heat flux based on the first hours of measurement. This introduces a small additional uncertainty, but can significantly reduce characterization time: a valuable compromise when throughput becomes critical. • How did we reduce the size of the instruments used to measure large nuclear containers? In 2014, Setsafe and the CEA co-developed a patented “ghost” reference cell design for nuclear calorimeters. It basically eliminates the need for a physical empty container and thus drastically reduces the instrument's dimension. The result? A more compact and more efficient way to measure large nuclear containers. This innovation now powers our Heat-Check LV calorimeter. • Recap from Tritium School 2026 ⚛️ Last week, we had the pleasure of attending the Tritium School 2026, hosted by CIEMAT in Madrid, Spain. More than 100 participants gathered on-site, with many more joining remotely, to exchange knowledge and discuss the challenges surrounding tritium measurement, management, and research. During the discussions, it was particularly encouraging to see that calorimetry was identified by several major stakeholders as a reliable and suitable method for tritium quantification. Seeing Setsafe calorimeters contribute to large-scale scientific and nuclear projects is something we are very proud of. Our Global Sales Director Thierry Gervais was also happy to reconnect with members of the Club H3 from Nuclear Valley, including Stephane Poncet (CURIUM), Christopher Dane (Jacomex), and also Robert Mandoki from Andra - Agence nationale pour la gestion des déchets radioactifs. Looking forward to continuing collaborations and supporting the advancement of the tritium field. #tritium #event #calorimetry

  • Meet us a the Tritium School ! After attending last year's edition in Ottawa, Canada, we are back for this new and fourth edition of the Tritium School in Madrid, Spain from March 2-6, 2026. Setsafe and our Global sales director Thierry Gervais are proud to take part in this key event to talk about tritium management, detection, waste handling and much more. Whether you’re attending to present, collaborate, or explore, we’d love to meet you there. CIEMAT #tritium2025 #event #calorimetry

  • Reducing measurement time in nuclear calorimetry For nuclear material inventories characterization, measurement time is sometimes a critical constraint. In such cases, saving time on calorimetry testing cycles can quickly become a requirement, especially when acquiring multiple parallel measuring stations is not economically viable. Calorimetry based on power-compensation mode offers an interesting approach to reduce characterization time while maintaining measurement accuracy. In this carousel, we share how this principle can lead to a 20–30% time gain in real measurement conditions. How do you approach this challenge in your own operations?
