🎗️National Cancer Survivors Day this Sunday is a reminder that survivorship is shaped by the lived experience. Survivors and caregivers offer critical perspectives on what it means to live with and beyond cancer—insights that inform research, improve care, and guide resources across the cancer continuum. The Office of Cancer Survivorship will soon share new stories from cancer survivors, told in their own words. In the meantime, explore our collection of survivor and caregiver stories here: https://lnkd.in/e6nPuHhB.

About us
As NCI’s bridge to public health research, practice, and policy, the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS) plays a unique role in reducing the burden of cancer in America. DCCPS has the lead responsibility at NCI for supporting research in surveillance, epidemiology, health services, behavioral science, and cancer survivorship. The division also plays a central role within the federal government as a source of expertise and evidence on issues such as the quality of cancer care, the economic burden of cancer, geographic information systems, statistical methods, communication science, comparative effectiveness research, obesity, tobacco control, and the translation of research into practice. WATCH: 🎉The Office of Cancer Survivorship (OCS) is marking 30 years of advancing survivorship research this #NationalCancerSurvivorsMonth.🎉In the video below, DCCPS and OCS Acting Director Dr. Gary Ellison reflects on why this milestone matters, how advances in cancer prevention, detection, and treatment have led to a growing population of cancer survivors, and why a coordinated, research‑driven approach to survivorship continues to be essential. Learn more about OCS at survivorship.cancer.gov—and stay tuned for more as we continue recognizing 30 years of OCS.

NCI-funded investigators are contributing important research and perspectives on survivorship and supportive cancer care at #ASCO26 today. In the Symptom Science and Palliative Care Session: • Dr. John M. Salsman will present results from the EMPOWER full factorial trial, a digital health intervention designed to enhance well-being among adolescent and young adult cancer survivors. (Abstract 12006) • Dr. Michael H. Storandt will present findings on the impact of an ePROM-triggered, collaborative care–based symptom intervention on depression and anxiety among young adults with cancer. (Abstract 12007) Our own Dr. Ashley Wilder Smith will serve as an invited panelist during the Survivorship Community of Practice session, helping advance conversations around cancer survivorship and supportive care. New findings from NCI-funded research will be presented at #ASCO26 in the Quality Care/Health Services Research Session. Dr. Michael J. Hassett will present findings on an overall survival analysis of eSyM, a cluster randomized trial evaluating an electronic patient-reported outcomes (ePRO)-based symptom management program. (Abstract 11003) The study explores how digital symptom monitoring and management may improve outcomes for patients receiving cancer care.
