Any T-SQL statement can be conditionally performed using IF... ELSE. If the condition evaluates to True, SQL server will execute T-SQL statements preceded by an IF condition. T-SQL statements using the ELSE keyword will be performed if the condition evaluates to False.
Conditional statements are used to specify which logic should be run based on whether or not a condition is met. In SQL procedures, there are two types of conditional statements that are supported: CASE.
The word 'if' is used in a conditional sentence. A conditional sentence always has two parts: one that starts with 'if' and explains a probable circumstance, and the other that defines the result. For instance, if it rains, we will be soaked.
Conditional statements are used to control the execution flow based on certain conditions. If a condition is true, you can do one action; if it is false, you can take a different action.
Conditionals are divided into four categories: zero, first, second, and third. It's also possible to mix them up and use one form of conditional in the first portion of a statement and another in the second. "Mixed conditionals" would be the term for these phrases.
