LearnDash’s Commitment to Accessibility
At LearnDash, we believe online learning should be accessible to everyone. We are committed to making the LearnDash platform as inclusive as possible for people of all abilities. Our accessibility efforts are guided by the following standards:
- WCAG 2.2 Level A/AA
- Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act
- EN 301 549 (EU ICT Accessibility Standards)
We have conducted an external accessibility audit and on our way to completing a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) to transparently share our accessibility conformance.
Current Status
We’ve completed our Product Accessibility Conformance Report and will continue to update it as we make more progress on accessibility throughout our core LMS plugin and add-ons.
Known Accessibility Issues
We strive for continuous improvement. Below are the current known limitations:
- Matrix Sorting Question Type
This quiz type is not fully compatible with screen readers or keyboard-only navigation. We recommend alternative question types for high-stakes or mandatory assessments requiring strict accessibility. - Legacy Template
Some legacy design elements may not meet accessibility guidelines. Our newer templates are being evaluated and adjusted accordingly. - Third-Party Plugin Conflicts
Accessibility may be impacted by external tools or customizations not developed by LearnDash. - LearnDash Add-ons
Add-ons have not yet been audited by a third party. We’re currently performing internal accessibility reviews and will submit each add-on for external audit once updates are complete. Results will be included in our VPAT and shared here. - Admin Screens
Our current VPAT assessment focuses on the learner-facing (frontend) experience. Accessibility updates to LearnDash admin screens are planned once frontend work is complete. Because LearnDash is built on WordPress, admin accessibility may also be influenced by the platform’s own accessibility progress.
Our Accessibility Roadmap
At LearnDash, we’re actively working to make our LMS and its add-ons more accessible for all learners and creators. Accessibility is an ongoing journey, and we’re committed to achieving meaningful progress with every update.
Here’s what’s coming next:
- Improved Frontend Accessibility: We’re moving toward substantial conformance for all public-facing LearnDash LMS elements to ensure a more inclusive learning experience.
- Ongoing Add-on Reviews: Each LearnDash add-on is being evaluated and updated to meet accessibility standards, with VPAT documentation provided as it becomes available.
- Admin Area Enhancements: We’re making continuous improvements to the admin interface to enhance accessibility wherever possible.
- Long-Term Accessibility Goals: Our roadmap includes full conformance for the LearnDash LMS frontend, guided by accessibility best practices and user feedback.
We’ll continue to share progress and publish VPAT updates here as they’re completed.
