2025 Château Batailley, Pauillac Dry | Red | Still | 13.5%

Rich cassis fruit with cocoa and dark chocolate spice. This is a brilliantly balanced Batailley showing the flesh and mid-palate fruit of the warm summer while maintaining freshness and poise through the finish. Layers of violets, spice, creamy oak, and gravelly Pauillac minerality build on the palate to a long and cohesive finish. Great value this year.

Young: 2030 - 2050
2025 Château Pontet-Canet, Pauillac Dry | Red | Still | 13.5%

The 2025 Pontet Canet offers quite explosive aromatics with notes of blue fruits, black tea, and lavender. Rounded almost creamy merlot character of plum and red cherry coat the mid-palate with a bright line of acidity as a counterbalance. Showing a sinewy and supple tannic architecture, this finishes with a subtle earthy note of iris root and liquorice.

Young: 2030 - 2051
2022 Don Maximiano, Viña Errazuriz Founder's Reserve, Aconcagua Valley Dry | Red | Still

"A very complete wine, immediately alluring, that harmoniously blends 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Malbec, 11% Petit Verdot and 9% Carménère. A juicy core of Maraschino cherries, pomegranate and ripe raspberries is sprinkled abundantly with nutmeg, cardamom and allspice. Mellifluous tannins coated in graphite and cocoa powder carry the mid palate and prelude the long finish that lingers with a refreshing tail of tomato leaf and freshly cut parsley. Drinking beautifully now but deserving of some time in bottle to allow all its layers to be woven into something even more complex." 96 points Ines Salpico, Decanter

Ready: 2024 - 2034
2024 Pinot Noir Las Pizarras, Errázuriz, Aconcagua Dry | Red | Still | 12.5%

Beautiful bright cherry red in the glass. Ripe fruit, redcurrants and rosehip on the nose, with subtle undertones of floral character, followed by a hint of spice. Medium-bodied on the palate, lovely soft fruit and silky tannins, perfectly balanced, a hint of sweet fruit on the finish, which is long and elegant.

Ready: 2026 - 2035
2025 Miraflors Rosé, Domaine Lafage, Côtes Catalanes Dry | Rosé | Still | 12.5%

A blend of Grenache Gris, Grenache Noir and Mourvèdre, this rosé presents a beautiful, delicate pale pink hue with hints of salmon. It is juicy with strawberry, citrus and orange peel aromas. A distinct minerality runs through the wine, giving it a racy and elegant profile. The acidity is bright and crisp, leading to a smooth and dry finish. Perfect for a sunny day or just to have in the fridge.
Available for delivery in May.

Ready: 2026 - 2027
2024 Rosso di Montalcino, Caprili, Tuscany Dry | Red | Still | 13.5%

2024 was a vintage that really suited Caprili's Rosso di Montalcino. The nose greets you with gorgeous red cherry and rose petals. The palate is vibrant, racy and alive. Medium bodied with strawberry and hints of orange peel towards the fresh finish. This lighter style of Rosso is hard to resist.

Ready: 2026 - 2031
2023 Coudoulet de Beaucastel, Château de Beaucastel, Côtes du Rhône Dry | Red | Still | 13.5%

This is a perennial favourite at Lay & Wheeler, and invariably sells out quickly, such is the quality on offer for the price. It has a precise peppery nose, with mouth-coating fresh berry fruit on the palate, with notes of garrigue, violet, and black cherry. The Coudoulet vineyard lies right next to Château de Beaucastel’s main block, and is in fact a continuation of the same soil features. That it lies just beyond the limit of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape boundary, and made by one of the southern Rhône’s greatest winemaking families, means it might just be the best Côtes du Rhône money can buy.

2024 Riesling Grand Cru Sommerberg Eckberg, Albert Boxler Dry | White | Still

Sourced from Albert Boxler’s highest-altitude plots, the 2024 Riesling Eckberg sits on the edge of the forest, where the cooling woodland breeze tempers its sun-drenched southern exposure. The nose is currently coiled and cryptic, offering only a whisper of stony lemon. On the palate, that restraint transforms into a singular, laser-sharp focus. This is a wine of pure citrus and granite, driven by a 'steely' acidity that moves with the unwavering precision of a guided missile. Bone-dry and exceptionally tight, this is a masterpiece in the making. Cellar and wait.

Young: 2030 - 2066
2024 Riesling Réserve, Albert Boxler Dry | White | Still

Sourced from the younger vines of the Sommerberg Grand Cru and its environs, the 2024 Riesling Réserve is a triumph of precision timing. Despite a demanding growing season, Jean Boxler has delivered a wine defined by racy acidity and a high-toned aromatic profile of tangy grapefruit and lemon. The palate is lean and electric, offering a surge of citric energy underpinned by a firm granitic mineral core. Bone-dry and beautifully slender.
