According to the corps on Telegram, Russian troops managed to enter the village following a failed mechanized assault last week.
A small group of infantry survived, hiding in residential buildings and barns on the eastern outskirts, planning to wait for reinforcements and strike Ukrainian forces from the rear.
Their movements and hiding places were detected in time through coordinated action by the 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade and adjacent units operating in the 7th Corps’ area of responsibility.
After confirming the coordinates, commanders ordered a Leopard 2 tank crew to engage.
Footage filmed from inside the tank shows it methodically destroying buildings where Russian soldiers were sheltering. Kyiv Post was unable to independently verify the time and location of the video.
“The remnants of the enemy infantry that broke through after the assault have been eliminated,” the corps said.
Engaging advancing Russian forces
On Jan. 31, 7th Airborne Assault Corps reported that Russian forces launched a mechanized assault on Hryshyne, using three armored vehicles after earlier infiltration attempts had failed.
Attack on Kyiv: Escalation or Intimidation?
The attack achieved only limited success before Ukrainian troops counterattacked. The 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade, named after Anna Kyivska, together with adjacent units, engaged the advancing Russian forces.
According to the corps, Russian troops were eliminated both on the approaches to the village and on its outskirts. The fighting resulted in the destruction of two armored vehicles and the elimination of more than 10 Russian soldiers.
The corps also reported that some Russian troops fled the battlefield and that clearing operations in and around Hryshyne are ongoing.
Earlier, the commander of the 7th Airborne Assault Corps, Gen. Yevhen Lasyichuk, told the BBC that Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold northern Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, with Russian troops most active around Pokrovsk, pressing from the northwest toward Hryshyne.
He said some Russian units are trying to “leak” between Ukrainian defensive positions to bypass residential areas.
Airborne Forces commander Brig. Gen. Oleh Apostol told Novynarnia that Ukrainian troops have pushed Russian forces back from parts of the city but lack the resources to fully liberate Pokrovsk.
“To fully restore control over Pokrovsk, enormous resources are needed. We cannot afford it at the moment,” Apostol said.
Russia has concentrated about 100,000 troops in the Pokrovsk direction and deployed specialized drone units to gain a technological edge.
