The Certified Information Systems Auditor Certification is valid for 3 years during which time you will need to earn and report 20 CPE hours yearly and 120 hours over a 3-year period to ISACA, the accreditation body. To protect the integrity of ISACA’s certification exams, ISACA has implemented the following retake policy:

1. Individuals have 4 attempts within a rolling twelve-month period to pass the exam. Those that do not pass on their first attempt are allowed to retake the exam a total of 3 more times within 12 months from the date of the first attempt.

Please note that candidates must pay the registration fee in full for each exam attempt. To illustrate: After taking and not passing the exam (attempt 1):

• Retake 1 (attempt 2): Customers must wait 30 days from the date of the first attempt
• Retake 2 (attempt 3): Customers must wait 90 days after the date of the second attempt
• Retake 3 (attempt 4): Customers must wait 90 days after the date of the third attempt

2. Individuals who pass the exam are restricted from taking the same exam within the application time period of 5 years.

3. Certification holders are restricted from taking the same certification exam while they are certified.

After you successfully pass the CISA exam, your CISA certification is valid up to 3 years post which you will need to meet certain requirements in order to renew your certification.

• Payment Options: ISACA will notify you via email and mail around September of the upcoming year's maintenance fee. You can conveniently pay online through your Certification Dashboard whenever the fee is due.

• Cost: The annual maintenance fee varies depending on your ISACA membership status:
• • ISACA Members: US$45
  • Non-Members: US$85

• Discount for Multiple Certifications: Holding more than two active ISACA certifications provides a cost benefit for renewing additional ones. The renewal fee for your third (and subsequent) certifications drops to US$25 for members and US$50 for non-members.
