About the comic

Journey Upstream is a christian adventure comic, which follows a mismatch group of animals as they travel on the path of life. The story structure is a little bit similar to "Pilgrim's Progress" by John Bunyan (although this wasn't on purpose, I think it's a valid and flattering comparison) in that it explores theological and faith-related issues in a slightly episodic fashion, along the journey of the characters. This comic is also my way of exploring and making sense of my own Christian worldview (which at this point still relatively new to me) and sharing that exploration with everyone else who wants to read it.

Age restriction I'd say it's suitable for teens and up. The comic is mostly lighthearted, but it also deals with the evil of our natures in ways that could occasionally be distressing for younger children. So I recommend that parents read the comic first in those cases.

Framework My perspective writing the comic comes from a Reformed Baptist point of view, and my conclusions and framing of things will of course reflect whatever convictions I currently hold. But my intention for the story isn't for it to be enjoyable only for those who identify themselves with the same denomination as I do, but that it could be read as a "general" Christian work, and enjoyed (and hopefully found useful, too!) by christians from any denominations. And the animals and their groups in the story aren't meant to represent any specific real-world denominations, nationalities of current-era movements, but are rather meant to portray broader ideas, thought patterns and individual personalities in general.

The author Hi, I'm Minna Sundberg! I'm born 1990, living in Finland, and I've been a full time independent comic artist/writer since graduating university (which was somewhere around 2010, I'm bad at remembering years).
