Dedication Ceremony Held June 10, 2026, Celebrates Jimi Hendrix’s Enduring Legacy

By Steven C. Pesant. On June 10, 2026, hundreds of fans gathered at the corner of West 8th Street and 6th Avenue in New York City to mark the unveiling of the new street sign dedicated to legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix.

NEW YORK, NY – On June 10 at 11 a.m., New York City will officially co-name West 8th Street as “Jimi Hendrix Way” in honor of legendary guitarist and cultural icon Jimi Hendrix.

Public Grand Opening Event to Coincide with Unveiling of New Judkins Park Station Featuring Two Mural Installations Featuring Jimi Hendrix at Both the East and West Entrances

On Saturday, March 28 Seattle’s Sound Transit will host a special opening celebration of the Crosslake Connection including the new Judkins Park Station that features two larger than life mural installations of the West Coast Seattle Boy: Jimi Hendrix.

On October 4, Experience Hendrix L.L.C., in partnership with Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, is releasing Electric Lady Studios: A Jimi Hendrix Vision, a deluxe box set offering 39 tracks (38 previously unreleased) that were recorded by the new-look Jimi Hendrix Experience (Billy Cox on bass, Mitch Mitchell on drums) at Electric Lady Studios between June and August of 1970, just before the legendary musician’s untimely death the following month.
