Learn how to invoke a validator in two different scenarios.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Scenario 1 &#8211; invoke validation<\/h2>\n<p>In this scenario, I have a user form with username field. Username field is validated with custom validator in order to verify the existance in e.g. database.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"brush:java\">public class User {\r\n\r\n    @UserExists\r\n    private String username;\r\n\r\n}<\/pre>\n<p>In controller class I have a method that handles POST method of that object:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"brush:java\">@Autowired\r\nprivate org.springframework.validation.Validator validator;\r\n\r\n@RequestMapping(value = \"\/user\", method = RequestMethod.POST)\r\npublic String validate(@ModelAttribute User user, Errors errors) {\r\n\r\n    ValidationUtils.invokeValidator(validator, user, errors);\r\n\r\n    if (errors.hasErrors()) {\r\n        \/\/ error, show errors to the user\r\n    }\r\n\r\n    \/\/ success, form is valid!\r\n}<\/pre>\n<p><code>org.springframework.validation.ValidationUtils<\/code> is a class for invoking a <code>org.springframework.validation.Validator<\/code>.<div style=\"display:inline-block; margin: 15px 0;\"> <div id=\"adngin-JavaCodeGeeks_incontent_video-0\" style=\"display:inline-block;\"><\/div> <\/div><\/p>\n<p>Please note that user parameter is followed by <code>org.springframework.validation.Errors<\/code> object. Spring initializes this object but it is empty and can be be passed to a <code>invokeValidator<\/code> method.<\/p>\n<h2>Scenario 2 &#8211; invoke validation with hints<\/h2>\n<p>In this scenario, user form gets a bit more complicated:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"brush:java\">@GroupSequence(value = {ValidationOrder.First.class, ValidationOrder.Second.class})\r\ninterface ValidationOrder {\r\n    interface First {}\r\n    interface Second {}\r\n}\r\n\r\n\r\npublic class User {\r\n\r\n    @UserExists(groups = ValidationOrder.First.class)\r\n    @UserIsEntitledToDiscount(groups = ValidationOrder.Second.class)\r\n    private String username;\r\n\r\n}<\/pre>\n<p>Thanks to <code>@GroupSequence<\/code> I could decide about the order of validation.
