What we do at InformedHealth.org
The articles, illustrations and films on InformedHealth.org and Gesundheitsinformation.de are based on the best evidence that was available at the time of publication. The “Updated” entry at the bottom of each article indicates the date on which the information, and the scientific evidence that it is based upon, was up-to-date.
In order to ensure that our website is up-to-date, we regularly check our information and update it if necessary.
Our information is based on extensive literature searches for relevant high-quality evidence. To answer questions about the benefits and harms of medical interventions, we mainly use systematic reviews of studies.
All of the studies we use are first evaluated by our team to ensure that they are of high-enough quality. Drafts of our information go through multiple stages of quality assurance involving experts within the institute, external experts and patients.
Because all of our articles are produced by various experts at IQWiG working together, no single person is named as the author of an article.
You can find more detailed information about our methods and processes in the topic area “Our methods and processes.” This information can also be found on the website of the Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care (IQWiG, Germany), as part of the description of its methods.
